Every Singer starts as a real Porsche — and ends up worth several times more
Singer Vehicle Design doesn't manufacture cars from scratch — it takes a client-supplied, air-cooled Porsche 911 and completely re-engineers and rebuilds it, inside and out, over many months. Since 2009, Singer has delivered more than 60 Classic Study commissions, and its Williams Advanced Engineering-developed DLS and DLS Turbo programs push that same philosophy to a 500-700+ hp extreme. Because the underlying VIN is a decades-old Porsche but the finished car can be worth several times what a stock 911 sells for, this is a car type that off-the-shelf policies routinely get wrong.
Singer, model by model
Ask us if your commission doesn't match a category below — every Singer build is bespoke.
Classic Study Commission
2009–Present
Singer's original program: a client's air-cooled 911 (typically a 964-generation car) is fully disassembled and rebuilt with a carbon fiber body, reengineered chassis, and a bespoke interior, with well over 60 examples delivered worldwide since 2009.

DLS / DLS Turbo
2018–Present
Developed with Williams Advanced Engineering, the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study pushed a naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six to 500hp; the 2023 DLS Turbo adds twin turbochargers to a 3.8L flat-six for over 700hp, limited to 99 commissions.

What published insurance data actually shows
The Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) — a nonprofit affiliated with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety — publishes real collision loss statistics by vehicle series, and we cite that data on several of our other marque pages where it exists. It doesn't exist for a Singer commission, and it couldn't: HLDI tracks losses by VIN-linked model series, and a Singer-built car is titled as a decades-old Porsche 911 even though it's been completely rebuilt into something worth many multiples more. Generic 911 data would drastically understate what's actually at risk. We'd rather tell you plainly that the data doesn't apply than cite a number that misrepresents the car. What this means in practice: a genuine Singer commission has to be underwritten on the actual rebuilt value, documented by Singer's own build records, not on what the titled model year Porsche would otherwise be worth.
What carriers actually ask before they'll write coverage
Carriers writing a Singer commission need clear documentation that the car is a genuine Singer build — commission paperwork, Singer's own records, and a current, professional valuation that reflects the actual rebuild rather than the underlying VIN's stock value. Storage, mileage, and intended use (show car vs. semi-regular driver) all factor into how the policy gets structured.
Some Singer owners showcase their car. Others keep it entirely private. Both are covered correctly.
Some Singer owners show their car extensively — at Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, and other concours events where these builds draw real crowds. Others keep their commission almost entirely private, both for security and because Singer's clientele often prefers discretion. Both are legitimate ownership styles, and both change what the policy needs to account for.
An independent brokerage, not a single carrier
We're not captive to one insurance company, and we're not a dealership finance office. That independence is the point: our only job is finding you the right coverage at the right price, then advocating for you if you ever need to use it.
Access to multiple carriers
We shop coverage across a range of specialty and standard carriers instead of pricing everything through one company's rate table, so you see real options instead of a single take-it-or-leave-it quote.
Bundle for a better rate
Combine your Singer with your home, everyday autos, umbrella liability, other collector vehicles, and — where it applies — your business insurance. Carriers price account relationships, and that often means meaningfully better terms across the board.
Four things a standard policy misses
Agreed value reflecting the rebuild, not the VIN
The payout is set based on the actual documented Singer commission value — not a generic 964-generation Porsche 911 valuation guide that has no way of knowing what was actually done to the car.
Genuine commission documentation
Coverage built around verifying real Singer build records — essential given how much value a Singer rebuild adds over the underlying donor car.
Bespoke parts & Singer-network labor
Coverage that pays for actual reproduction of Singer's specific carbon fiber, chassis, and interior work — not a generalist shop's guess at replicating a one-of-a-kind rebuild.
Transport & commission-in-process coverage
Whether the car is being shipped to or from Singer's facility, or on its way to a concours event, transport exposure needs to be explicitly addressed given the values involved.
